Yoga’s Natural Medicine: Ayurvedic Treatments

Yoga’s Natural Medicine: Ayurvedic Treatments

The Ayurveda Experience April 25, 2015

Ayurveda dates back thousands of years just like Yoga. Both aim to improve your health mentally and spiritually as well as your happiness.

The practices of Ayurveda and Yoga are very similar, especially regarding how they affect your mental strength and abilities. Ayurvedic practices influence different aspects of the body. They help improve your physical and mental existence along with your personality as a whole. Each element influences one another to create holistic healing which is a fundamental part of Ayurvedic Treatments.

Remember, Ayurveda is the science of life!

Ayurvedic Principles & Treatment

Ayurveda divides life into 3 principles or Doshas (Vata, Pitta & Kapha) which all need to be balanced to maintain Health. An imbalance of these can result in illness!

Each dosha has a unique effect on your body. We all have all 3 Doshas within us but normally 2 are more dominant than the other.

The 3 Doshas and their details are as follows:

  • Dosha VATA: If this is dominant within the body, we have a tendency to be light, thin, energetic, and changeable.
  • Dosha PITTA: If this is dominant within our system, we tend to be intense, goal-driven, and have a strong desire & appetite for life.
  • Dosha KAPHA: If this is dominant, we are seen to be easy going and nurturing.

Ayurvedic treatments are designed to balance the Doshas, the dynamic relationship between our environment and our body, mind, and spirit.

The vital aspect of Ayurveda is to identify the individual’s ideal state of balance. Once this is known, you can use various practices like Panchakarma and interventions of herbs, natural medicines, massage, meditation, music, aromatherapy, oils, body wraps, yoga, and consultations with a qualified practitioner. Ayurvedic treatments are tailored to each person’s unique lifestyle. It is not a one size fits all regime!

No Prescribed Drugs

If you are completely new to Ayurveda, it may seem farfetched to you due to it not using prescription drugs. This is understandable because we are so used to prescribed drugs/medicine. Yet sometimes the natural healing process needs to take place!

On top of this, there are side effects to drugs where natural remedies will not have a negative side effect on someone. Ayurvedic treatments aim to find the cause of your symptoms and erase them completely by uncovering and removing that cause.

The power of healing naturally is always needed. This is why Ayurvedic treatments are the longest holistic healing approach still available and growing in popularity worldwide!

If you have never experienced it before, we can’t expect you to agree with its positive effects. Try Ayurvedic treatments for yourself and see the masterful healing effects it has.
