    Positive Aspects of Kapha Dosha

The Ayurveda Experience February 27, 2016

If you take your problem to a vata nature person, the vata is likely to reflect back to you a time when they had a similar problem. Pitta is likely to tell you what you need to do to fix that problem. What kapha dosha is likely to do is to ask you the question how can I help! So it is not surprising that we all want to have kapha friends.

They are very supportive by nature, they want to help not only friends, and families but even their co-workers. Kaphas are very loving, nurturing, and caring for their children, their families, and for everyone else in their lives. They are reliable and dependable. They show up, on time, and sometimes even get some treats. They tend to be very thorough with their project work. They don’t like to stop before they have fully done everything they intended to do.

Kapha might have physical, mental, and emotional challenges. Physically their digestion can tend toward sluggishness. They may feel overly full after eating a small meal or they might feel it takes a long time for their food to digest. They might even feel that their elimination takes a long time to pass.

Kapha has a tendency of having swelling in the tissues and water retention. Kapha is also the dosha that causes weight gain. Mentally and emotionally kapha dosha has a tendency to go towards sadness and melancholy. They resist change and they resist change in principle. They just simply don’t want to change. Their reaction to change is to simply pull back into themselves and withdraw.

To come back to balance, Kapha dosha wants to increase fire and air. They want to increase heat and they want to increase movement and the best way to do this is with physical exercise to get moving. When kapha dosha begins the process of daily exercise they feel more balanced and less stuck.
