8 Ways To Prevent Breast Cancer

8 Ways To Prevent Breast Cancer

The Ayurveda Experience January 30, 2016

Ayurveda teaches us that the gradual accumulation of toxins in our body may cause over time stagnation in tissue that may lead to breast cancer. From the holistic perspective, toxins may come from various sources including our toxic environment, processed foods, lack of regular movement, and even suppressed emotions or emotional stagnation.

The key to maintaining healthy, cancer-free breasts resides in not only self-exams and regular screenings, but also in your everyday lifestyle, including the following 8 steps to keeping your body toxin-free.

1. Listen To Your Inner Voice

Connect with your body and mind. Take time to relax, and breathe deeply and fully. Meditate daily. Exercise regularly. Listen to your body’s voice and pay attention to its signs. When you feel like going to bed early, do it. When you crave some specific food, have it.

2. Take Good Care Of Yourself And Do What You Love Every Day.

Indulge in a healthy diet, move, get enough rest and sleep, cultivate happy and loving relationships, and enjoy hobbies that make you happy. Connect with your emotions. Writing a journal or practicing the art of gratitude are wonderful ways to let your emotional energy flow.

3. Take Care Of Sweat The Smart Way

Use natural aluminum-free deodorants. Antiperspirants create a blocking layer, which causes a build-up in the tissue instead of its natural exclusion.

4. Free Your Breasts

Underwire bras cause stagnation in the tissue by constricting lymph circulation. Wear comfortable bras without wires. As my brilliant teacher, Claudia Welch says: “Save your underwire bra only for a special stagnation.”

5. Be Friends With Your Plate

Choose foods that contain plenty of prana or life energy. Enjoy whole, fresh, alkalizing, organic, local, and enzyme-rich foods when possible. Load up on fiber and make it your habit. Your body will thank you for it. Avoid leftovers, GMO, processed, canned, frozen, fried and microwaved foods – all of these are low in nutrition and may be a potential source of toxin accumulation.

6. Spice it up

Warming spices increase circulation and energy flow. By following your individual body constitution (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and seasonal changes, spices such as garlic, ginger, and turmeric are beneficial.

7. Massage Your Breast Daily

Pamper yourself with a gentle loving breast massage. Use warm castor oil or sesame oil (organic is the best choice, if available). Massages detoxify and stimulate the lymph system.

8. Avoid Toxic Cosmetics

Know what products you apply to your skin. Make sure to look carefully at the ingredients of the cosmetics you use. Many beauty products contain carcinogens and endocrine-disrupting chemicals that increase breast cancer risk.
