Ashwagandha for Sexual Strength! Wondering how! Read on to find out how.
Ashwagandha is an ancient Indian Ayurvedic herb, famous with English names - Indian ginseng and winter cherry.
It is called Asgandha and Asgandh in Hindi.
It is used in improving strength and immunity. It is also used in the treatment of sexual disorders very frequently.
In the treatment of sexual disorders, Ashwagandha is used orally and also applied externally. For external application, Ashwagandha paste or its herbal oil is commonly used.
The mental causes for PE are -
Sexual inexperience, overexcitement, stress, anxiety, feeling of guilt and depression. Ashwagandha is orally used in treating anxiety and depression. It is also known to decrease the cortisol levels in the body, thereby reducing the amount of stress.
Diabetes, multiple sclerosis, prostate disease, high blood pressure (hypertension), thyroid problems, Illicit drug use, alcohol consumption etc.
In most of the above-mentioned physical disorders, such as diabetes, MS, hypertension and thyroid issues, Ashwagandha is very frequently used.
Due to above reasons, Ashwagandha is highly efficient in handling the mental and physical causes of premature ejaculation.
It is another disorder wherein Ashwagandha holds a lot of promise.
Cardiac disorders – Ashwagandha being rich in anti oxidants, acts as a cardioprotective. An animal experimental study proved that Ashwagandha increased glycogen content in myocardium of the heart.
Ashwagandha is useful in reducing cholesterol, body weight, blood pressure and blood sugar levels, which may also cause erectile dysfunction.
Sleep disorders can also contribute to erection problems. Ashwagandha is useful in improving the quality and duration of sleep.
It is another cause for sexual weakness. In a 8-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study, it was proven that intake of a standardized ashwagandha extract was associated with increased levels of DHEA-S and testosterone.
Low testosterone leads to symptoms like low energy, low muscle mass, infertility, erectile dysfunction, decreased sex drive etc. Ashwagandha is useful in treating all these symptoms effectively.
This condition is caused due to drugs, alcohol, smoking, Varicocele, trauma, infection etc.
Hydro-alcoholic extract of Ashwgandha has shown anti inflammatory effect. Ashwagandha also carries adaptogen effect. Due to these causes, this herb is very useful in the treatment of oligospermia.

Depression and anxiety can lead to sexual disorders. Ashwagandha is known to elevate mood, improve digestion, metabolism and is also useful in treating chronic fatigue syndrome.
Ashwagandha, being an anti-inflammatory herb is useful in the treatment of myalgia (body ache, muscle pain), associated with depression.
For this reason, Ashwagandha is used in many Ayurvedic medicines used for the treatment of depression and anxiety, such as Manasamitra vatakam and Brahmi Vati etc.
