Turmeric Apple Kale Ginger Juice With Ashwagandha

The Ayurveda Experience October 24, 2017

Turmeric is such a powerfully healing herb that it is used in sacred ceremonies in India. It is considered to be a purifier. Its beautiful color is likened to the sun. This herb is so warming, cleansing and healing that it can be used to heal many conditions.

Women in south India apply turmeric to their feet during sacred pujas because it is considered to be beautiful and purifying. It is also applied as a paste to pregnant women’s feet in order to prevent infection and hold warmth in the body. Turmeric paste is applied to the face to make the skin vibrant and to reduce acne.

Turmeric is a fabulous anti inflammatory and is often used for arthritis or body pain. It is an antiseptic and can be applied to wounds to prevent infection and stop bleeding. It improves digestion, heals the skin and purifies the blood.

Turmeric is bitter and has a slightly spicy taste. It is hot in temperature, light and dry in quality. Its bitterness helps to reduce Pitta dosha. Its warmth helps to reduce Vata dosha and its light and drying qualities help to reduce Kapha dosha.

Drink turmeric in the fall and winter. It feels like a hug inside! Combine turmeric with a bouquet of sweet beets and apples along with the cleansing green goodness of kale, stimulating ginger and energizing Ashwagandha.
