15 Minute Cooling Pitta Yoga Sequence

It is important to incorporate yoga asana (postures), meditation and pranayama (breath work) into daily ritual. This helps keep our doshas (makeup) in balance.

The combined study and practice of yoga and Ayurveda will restore balance and unity in body, mind and spirit which is what we are all seeking, both individually and collectively.

Many people, especially in the U.S., know yoga as a physical exercise. What a lot of people do not know is that when yoga practice is combined with Ayurvedic principles and we perform yoga practice according to our original prakriti (original doshic makeup) then yoga becomes yoga chikitsa. This means yoga therapy. In other words, when yoga is performed with an Ayurvedic mindset then yoga becomes more than just a physical exercise. It becomes a healing therapy modality for body, mind and spirit geared towards bringing perfect doshic balance to the Ayurvedic tripartite body.

Ayurveda is one of the most remarkable holistic medical systems in the world. It covers all aspects of health and wellbeing – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It includes all methods of healing from diet, herbs, exercise and lifestyle regimens to yoga practices, pranayama (breath work) and meditation.

This simple 12 minute yoga, meditation and pranayama sequence will help cool Pitta and leave you with a feeling of calm and focus. Do this practice anytime you feel unease or simply need to unwind from your day or need a little rejuvenation and stress relief.
