A good and healthy immune system helps to keep the body away from diseases and other medical disorders. It also protects the body from environmental variations and climatic changes.

However, with today's lifestyle practices, our immune system is getting compromised, worsening day by day, and losing its efficacy. Here are some Ayurvedic ways to help improve immunity and get your body ready to fight off diseases.

1. Echinacea or Coneflower (Echinacea angustifolia)

Echinacea is helpful for the treatment of common cold, influenza, sore throat, inflammations, tonsillitis, snake bites, toothaches, and many other infections. It acts as an immunostimulant. It is one of the most effective herbs to increase the immune system.

2. Astragalus or Milkvetch (Astragalus propinquus)

3. Ginseng (Panax ginseng)

Last but not least, ginseng is another highly useful herb for boosting the immune system. Ginseng contains ginsenosides. It has anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties.

Every individual must follow a balanced diet. A balanced diet must contain a proper quantity of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. The foods must include fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Beans, legumes, and meats, etc., shall be consumed but always in proper quantity.

7. Drink a lot of water

Drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily is essential to maintain the immune system of the body. Water flushes out the toxins from the body. It cleans the system and helps to carry out metabolic processes properly.

8. Exercise regularly

Carrying out physical activities for at least 30 minutes daily is very important in maintaining a healthy immune system. This helps in effectively maintaining the body’s circulatory system and vascular system.

9. Get enough sleep

Sleep for at least 8 hours. This is very important in strengthening the immune system. The proper amount of rest is essential for the proper functioning of the brain and other organs of the body. It helps to prepare the body to fight off illnesses.

10. Quit smoking

Smoking is extremely injurious to health. The intake of tobacco affects the normal functioning of the body and its various systems. So, quitting smoking is of utmost importance if one wants to lead a healthy life with a strong immune system.
