Scour the shelves of Cellulite reduction techniques and you’ll find gazillions of ‘over the odds’ ways - ‘anti-cellulite’ tools, creams, laser treatments and the like...
However, the strangest thing about any of these cellulite combatants is how they make cellulite a rarity when almost
85% to 90% of women after puberty have it!
Did you know
Cellulite-combating products generated $11.8 million in U.S. department stores … and the number of liposuction procedures performed on women increased 168.5% between 1997 and 2007?
Whereas cellulite is only as common as your appendix. You won’t need it, but it’s just there - It may seem like a problem to some, not to all!
Then, why is Cellulite considered an ‘imperfection’ when it doesn’t alter your ability to function, or keep you from being fit?
Ayurvedic practitioners have a kind explanation for this.
Why is Cellulite considered an ‘imperfection’ when it doesn’t alter your ability to function, or keep you from being fit?
Ayurvedic practitioners have a kind explanation for this.
The appearance of cellulite is simply a part of life as our bodies go through multiple emotional, physiological and psychological changes. The correct approach to a healthy lifestyle can actually chip away at those stubborn fat deposits and help claim our derrieres back! 😉
The ancient science believes that
all bodies are perfect, just the way they are. In the course of nurturing its goal of promoting a healthier lifestyle, it has discovered some interesting ways to help tackle the look of cellulite for those who may despise it.
Ayurveda also
differs from the popular belief that
Cellulite is an after-effect of weight gain.
They say
“When life hands you lemons -
SQUAT”.
Why Squat? Because the layer of muscle under the accumulated fat layer has to be firmed for cellulite to vanish.
The secret is to work your glute muscles.
Try this: Find a solid surface that won't easily budge, stand in front of it with your feet at hip distance apart, hold on to the surface, and squat down. Flex your glutes while you lift yourself back into standing position. Use as much support with your hands as you need. Repeat 15 times, take a short break, and do a total of 3 sets of 15 squats.
Lunges are another effective exercise. Stand straight with your feet close together and take a big step forward with your left leg. Slowly lower your right knee to the ground (but don't touch the ground) and flex your glutes while you lift yourself up again. You can hold on to a solid surface for balance. Repeat 10 times for each leg, take a short break, and do a total of 3 sets.
2 or 3 sets of such exercises should be included in your daily exercise routine at least 3-4 times a week.
Do you prefer soda or other ‘Vitamin water’ (Read: SUGAR) over a glass of plain water? Then it’s time to make the switch!
First and foremost, Hydration is the best option to deal with your thigh/butt-dimples because it’s a
LOW-COST, all-natural option. Not only does drinking ample water keep you hydrated, but also encourage circulation and lymphatic flow.
Did you know that cellulite has toxins in it?
Pure Water contains sufficient nutrients to flush out toxins from your body, maintain a naturally healthy glow and of course, a stronger immune system.
To zing up your daily hydration routine, add a few slices of lemon, ginger and orange to it. Your water becomes naturally flavored and healthier! Lemon is known for aiding in digestion, ginger boosts your immune system and oranges promote a healthy blood circulation.
Another reason why taking ample amount of water is important is to
quash excess fluid retention.
And how does fluid retention matter to the appearance of cellulite? Eliminating fluid retention reduces the ‘bulging’ appearance of fat deposits that are full of water.
If there was a secret ingredient that you could include in your diet to get rid of cellulite, that’d be
Flaxseed. It contains a hormone modulator known as Lignan, which help in reducing excess estrogen levels. Your body’s estrogen encourages fluid retention and triggers the production of fat cells.
Additionally, reducing salt levels, eating naturally diuretic food such as celeries, asparagus etc. would not encourage your body to retain additional fluid.
Eating naturally healthy fats such as nuts, olives and other cruciferous vegetables would also help with the appearance of cellulite.
One tried-and-tested way to reduce the appearance of cellulite is Massage. During a thorough massage, your skin is stretched enough, along with those cellulite marks.
Ayurvedic experts claim the benefits of using Kansa Wands for a thoroughly stimulating body massage. All natural, involving no electronic gadgets, batteries, harmful radiations or even chemicals, Kansa Wand is made with the healing metal of India- Kansa. It helps is easing muscle tension and erases stress and tiredness from any parts of the body.
However, Kansa metal must never be combined with creams containing retinoid and its likes. It works well with natural lubricants containing potent ingredients such as black pepper, turmeric, black gram, ginger etc.
Interestingly, there are many such Ayurvedic formulations that have been used in ‘Abhyanga’ (Ayurvedic self-massage) since time immemorial.
Remember, as with everything related to health and wellness, consistency is key. Cellulite will not disappear overnight, and it might never disappear entirely.
...And that’s okay! All bodies are beautiful, no matter which shape or size. Incorporating these tips with a plethora of health benefits aside from tackling cellulite, will also help you lead a healthier lifestyle.
