    A. Neurotransmitters: The Brain’s Communication Network

    Think of neurotransmitters as the communication bridges in your brain. They help your brain cells “talk” to each other and regulate your mood, motivation, and focus.    

    Serotonin and dopamine are the most critical neurotransmitters for emotional well-being and mood. They regulate key brain functions like consciousness and cognition, with imbalances often linked to nervous system concerns. 

    • Serotonin:

      Serotonin is a “feel-good” neurotransmitter that primarily helps with positive mood, sharp memory, learning, and restful sleep. 

    What lowers it? 

    Constant worry, poor gut health, lack of sunlight, and a diet low in tryptophan (the building block of serotonin).  


    What happens when it’s low?

    You feel irritable, anxious, or persistently sad. Sleep disturbances are also common.  

    • Dopamine:

      Dopamine, also known as the “reward chemical”, helps create feelings of pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation. It also helps with focus, concentration and better sleep.   

    What lowers it?

    B. The Stress Response System
