DID YOU KNOW?
Diabetes Mellitus, popularly known just as diabetes, is a major disease which
annually affects more than 80 million people
worldwide.
1. Nearly
30.3 million people in the US suffer from some form of diabetes
2. Out of them nearly
24% or 7.2 million people are unaware of their condition
3. An estimated 84 million adults have prediabetes – nearly 33.9% of the total adult population in the US
4. More men (36.6%) than women (29.3%) have prediabetes
5. Diabetes is the
4th leading cause of death in developed countries.
6. Undiagnosed diabetes poses risks to develop other serious conditions such as
blurry eyesight and loss of vision, cardiovascular diseases, amputations, stroke, liver problems and chronic kidney diseases.
There are 2 major types of diabetes corresponding to unique set of causes.
Type 1 diabetes is a congenital condition which can either be detected as early as within a few days or weeks of birth, or it can manifest in adulthood. In this condition the body fails to produce insulin which ensures proper absorption of glucose in cells. The patient must be administered insulin as it is not produced by the body.
Type 2 Diabetes is the other, more prevalent kind of diabetes. It has a wide variety of causes that range from genetic predisposition to dietary habits and even chronic stress. In this type of diabetes, insulin is produced by the pancreas but isn’t received by the cells, leading to malabsorption of glucose and high blood sugar levels.
Both the types of diabetes can be diagnosed by measuring Hemoglobin A1c levels, which indicate an average measure of blood sugar levels for the past 2-3 months.
Are of age 45 or above
Are struggling with obesity
Are experiencing any of the above symptoms with some frequency

However, Ayurvedic texts do not describe Diabetes as merely a high blood sugar condition, but also point it to be a result of irregular eating habits and relative carelessness. There are 20 different kinds of diabetes listed in Ayurveda, ascertained according to the predominant vitiated dosha in each type.
Diabetes is known as
Madhumeha in ancient Ayurvedic texts. ‘Madhu’ stands for honey and ‘meha’ stands for urine, literally meaning the disease that causes urine to be sweet. High blood sugar levels spill over in the urine and can be detected.
It has been classified as a Maharoga or major disease, as it causes serious health complications if not treated.
No need to be scared, though...
Dr. Akil Palanisamy, a Harvard-trained physician practicing integrative medicine, combines Ayurveda and Western medicine in his clinical practice with patients in San Francisco.
After completing his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Harvard, he performed clinical research at Harvard Medical School where he wrote his senior thesis. This was followed by medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, residency training at Stanford University, and fellowship in integrative medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona.
But that’s not it - what makes Dr. Akil unique is his
in-depth study of the ancient Indian Science of Ayurveda which helps him take a holistic approach with his patients and show exceptional results of recovery and healing.
As a Harvard trained MD, Dr. Akil
integrates a strong scientific background in biochemistry and Western Medicine with training in Ayurveda and study of ancestral societies around the globe. This unique background enables him to seamlessly blend Ayurvedic principles with the latest research in nutrition, food science, and medicine. Dr. Akil is known to provide
definitive, practical health information based on cutting-edge research and clinical experience.
In this course, Dr. Akil provides a historical account of diabetes, explaining exactly why this disease has acquired epidemic proportions now and
how did our ancestors lead diabetes free lives. He shows statistics from various clinical trials of different approaches to treat this condition, recounting various kinds of diet regimen and their success rates. Armed with this data, he walks us through case studies of
patients who benefitted from his integrative medicine treatment of diabetes and now lead normal lives, at times requiring no medication at all!
In fact, he shows us a
special diet regimen formulated in the 1920s, which is
recommended by doctors AND which they themselves follow to lead healthy lives! This diet is not just meant for diabetes patients, but is
recommended for all age groups, and has a little something to do with the way humans evolved and what they consumed to survive.
So if you’re wondering whether this course is suitable for you, it is! Ayurveda is a form of holistic medicine which looks at the human body as a whole rather than as a sum of parts.
This special diet applies to every person who wishes to lead a healthy life!

Conventional medicine works to alleviate the symptoms rather than the root cause of any disease. Faced with a lack of in-depth understanding of the disease, most patients have to remain on
medication which progressively increases, leading to loss of productivity and poor quality of life. Skyrocketing medical expenses do not help the case either. Not hitting at the base of disease can also inevitably lead to more serious complications such as nerve damage, loss of vision, renal failure and liver diseases. This course can help in reducing your healthcare costs and actually
address the underlying cause of the disease, leading to
long term health and possible reversal of effects.

“Being on Dr. Akil’s program, I learnt to solve the root of disease and think from a preventive point of view ..... The best part about Dr. Akil is that he is interested in your spiritual and emotional health as well. He is interested in treating not just the disease but the whole person and that makes all the difference!”
Normally, an appointment with a doctor can cost you anywhere between $300-$500 for a single consultation. Regular appointments mean a pretty heavy medical expenditure, which is imperative to bear. Contrast that with buying this course, and availing the expert recommendations of Dr. Akil without having to go anywhere. The difference in cost is huge! So is the nature of information you’ll receive. An integrative approach will go far and beyond modern medicine to tackle your blood sugar levels.
Dr. Akil’s stellar track record of treating patients with varied health conditions fully and comprehensively speaks for itself. He delivers the course in his trademark down to earth, warm conversational style which makes heavy duty concepts easy to understand. Normally, booking an appointment with him would mean a long waiting time but thanks to this course, you can benefit from his recommendations whenever you want!
The distinctive quality of this program is that it understands that each person is unique. Everyone has a unique fingerprint, unique dosha combination and unique triggers. Therefore it is mandatory to tailor the treatment method according to one’s unique requirements. One-size-fits-all approach is deeply flawed and this program avoids the pitfalls of generalization by recognizing this vital distinction, hence making for a more effective way of approaching diabetes.
