Now, there is a massive difference between dealing with health problems that occur on a physiological level and tackling issues that have their roots inside our complex (and intelligent) minds. And that’s solely because our stress makes us forget what being
‘truly healthy’ feels like.

If you have ever observed the
western approach of
studying the causes behind mental stress or illbeing,
it includes two main parts:
Correcting the imbalance of chemicals in the mind through medication,
AND
Reconciling with the past events whenever relevant,
through therapies, mental exercises and suchlike.
While therapy can emerge as a comforting aid, medication may only clinically or temporarily cure the mind, but it can be a huge price to pay for our overall health.

Even though medicines are a necessity for some, one needs a tool that will assist that progress, keeping it intact. To audit the scene of the mind better, Ayurveda insists on taking a stride further...
It dives deeper into the mind and works on those issues NATURALLY, involving ancient wisdom and techniques that go beyond the reach of modern knowledge.
If intermingled with the approach of western psychology, Ayurveda could be a breakthrough in SUPPORTING and
SUSTAINING
progress after medication has plateaued in effect.

If this DOES sound like you, we couldn’t be happier...
You will LOVE Ayurveda’s take on mental health and wellness.
But just in case, if this doesn’t sound like you, or a piece of this ‘good life’ seems like a far-off thought,
then you are in for a pleasant surprise...
We all want to embed ourselves with a
‘Zen Mode’.
Maybe you snapped at someone last week for something that might not even be directly related to that person!
Or you felt like giving up on work in the middle of the day...
Maybe you felt extremely upset when your best friend or your spouse did not pay attention to what you were saying...
It could be any such circumstance that could flag the stress accumulating in your system, keeping you from exuding your true energies – the best version of yourself.
This is the reason why you should LISTEN when your life is signaling a need for positive change.
Firstly, the approach of segregating the issues of the mind from the body limits the path one can walk to recover and heal.
The Ayurvedic Doshas are not just a mere reflection of our bodily composition...
Doshas are also connected with our Karma and more of such mysterious factors that Ayurveda slowly uncovers during its assessment of the problem.
And if you want to inspect the mind-body connection from a rather familiar point of view... Think about ‘Psychosomatic Pain’, as it is known in Western Psychology. Ayurveda takes a step ahead and gently untangles the knots that might be blocking the flow of positivity into your life.
A random headache, an unexplained stomachache, inconvenient phobias, or even just constant negative talk eating away your happiness.
All of these form a vicious cycle of confusion and not knowing what to do. And if you find yourself stuck into this downward spiral, there is nothing gentler and more healing than Ayurveda.
Who knows, you might discover one new thing about yourself today!
Keep a tally sheet and pen close to you before starting the exercise
Choose a quiet, isolated space for yourself
Close your eyes and let your mind wander without trying to control your thoughts
Identify the ‘general mood’ of those thoughts that flow freely out of you
If you identify a thought pattern that repeatedly thinks of the past or the future, become conscious of it
Every time you see this pattern repeat, mark your tally sheet with a hashtag to keep score
When your mind wanders anywhere outside of the ‘present’, notice where you are, your emotions, breathing and posture.
When your mind wanders anywhere outside of the ‘present’, notice where you are, your emotions, breathing and posture.
Remember:
Every time you recall a past event – whether positive or negative, or simply neutral – you are strengthening its influence on your present and its grip on your body.
But this doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing! Or a source of worry and anxiety.
By understanding your own mind and the working mechanism behind it, you can find solutions to have predominantly positive feelings.
Sattva:
The present state of mind, free flowing and clear
Rajas:
Mind riddled with distractions, where you may not be fully in control of your unconscious thoughts
Tamas:
The state of mind where ignorance plays a major role, keeping you from recognizing the root cause of a negative OR positive emotion
You may be wondering how to exactly understand or assess what part of your mind is in Sattva state, and how much constitutes of Rajas and Tamas.
And for that AND MUCH MORE,
The Ayurveda Experience has brought to you...

Ayurvedic and Yogic sciences place great importance on the teacher imparting the knowledge, which is why it is important to know about Mary’s Ayurvedic journey...
Mary’s experience with Ayurveda began in a rather intuitive way.
She was directing school-age childcare centers for the City of Sacramento, when she observed over 10% of the children receiving medications for managing ADHD. She suspected that the causation behind their issues was more to do with diet and lifestyle than with a specific chemical imbalance.
At first, Mary was just an observer, without any training or basis for her beliefs.
But soon after realizing that these observations needed to be addressed and acted upon for the wellbeing of such a population, she stumbled upon Ayurveda... A word that changed her entire life!
There was no stopping her after that. Mary went on to become one of the most revered teachers of Ayurveda in the United States. She has been teaching at the California College of Ayurveda for the past 30 years now. But Mary is not just a teacher of Ayurveda, she is a dedicated practitioner of this science of life herself.
This adds weight to her most prominent feature as a mentor: To be able to relate with her students in the most real ways and vice-versa!

Mary’s Credits and Achievements
During the course of 30 years, Mary has worked with hundreds of students, interns and practitioners as they have progressed and found fulfillment on their path of Ayurveda. She loves to support and cater those who have chosen to move into the study or practice of this healing science.
“Mary Thompson has been a faculty member at the California College of Ayurveda and has been teaching for decades. There are very few people in the USA that have the level of teaching experience that Mary Thompson has, and Mary is not just a teacher with many years of experience, but it’s really the quality of her teaching that’s the most important. Mary is well known for being concise, clear and inspirational.
Here at California College of Ayurveda, all the students love Mary, she’s a wonderful teacher, she cares deeply about the material she is teaching, she is impassioned about it, and the most important thing is that she is living the principles of Ayurveda that helped her tremendously in her life.
I’m very pleased that you have the opportunity to share how it has helped Mary and also how it’ll help you, so many blessing to all of you as you go on your journey with Mary Thompson.”
Dr. Marc Halpern, D.C., C.A.S., P.K.S.

“I’m here to give my full endorsement of Mary Thompson. She was my first teacher at the California College of Ayurveda and I spent my whole first year studying Ayurveda with Mary Thompson and I just have to say that for many of us this is the path, Ayurveda learning is the path for us to open up into the next level of our life, and our teachers matter, so to have Mary as your teacher on this path is an honor.
Mary has a way of explaining things that’s down to earth, that’s grounded, she’s a real person, she’s a real westerner and she gets this stuff deep inside out and she’s raised a child. That’s who you want to learn Ayurveda from, someone who can live it.”

This ability to continually reinvent as well as see linkages and connections is why Mary has been so successful in healing emotional and mental issues in her practice. Humble and humorous, Mary jokingly calls herself ‘a work in progress’ and encourages her patients to do the same. After all, change is possible only when one sees oneself as a still-evolving creature!
Which brings us to the question:
Here's how:
Yes! This course is for anybody who wants to explore a higher, more aware self within themselves. This course is also for you if you are having a tough time dealing with day-to-day stress, long-term negative thought patterns or have a hard time focusing on the present.
At the beginning, the modules start with basic information of what you will need to progress further, post which it will take you deeper into advanced knowledge and techniques.

“I myself have been a yoga teacher for 20 years, including teacher training for a past decade or so, and so I have a pretty good sense of what it takes to be a really skilled teacher and how to involve people in the teaching and I have to say that that’s one of Mary’s greatest attributes. It is her ability to bring the teaching absolutely to the person and she bridges the person and the professional in a way that I haven’t seen before. In fact, I mimic her often now in my own teacher training program in saying that nothing is off topic, that everything that is going on for that individual is relevant Ayurvedic medicine, and that’s particularly true when it comes to women’s health issues and I’ve frequently actually asked Mary, have begged her if she would do some videos on her women’s health insight because they are really incredible really tangible and different from anything I’ve ever heard before I have quested for those for my own clients and students. If I wasn’t here in Canada, I would be in her backyard in a tent awaiting further teaching from her.”
“I graduated as a student of Mary’s from the California College of Ayurveda in the year 2000 and I must admit, all these years later, Mary is still my favorite teacher. She really brought it to life, Ayurveda, she brought it to life in a way that was almost story-telling and the elements and everything involved with the whole complex science of Ayurveda, Mary somehow had the knack to make it almost very easy for a preschooler- that’s the kind of special teaching I need! So, here’s to Mary and what a wonderful teacher and all of my great memories of that time of my life. I’ve been practicing for over 15 years now and I have a business called Bending Blade Yoga, and it all started with Mary.”
“I know Mary from studying at the CCA and also from private tutoring with her after my graduation. I could never say enough about Mary’s teaching- she is genuinely my greatest Ayurvedic teacher. She brings so much knowledge to the table and the most powerful thing about her teaching is the ability to really take all these big ideas all these obtuse, theories and ideas and really bring them to the ground and make then understandable and digestible. And she really brings so much accessibility to this knowledge for people in the now, for people in 2015. She makes it really possible and really easy to blend this ancient knowledge with our modern lives. There are so many parts of Mary’s teaching that are potent that it’s hard to pick out just a few but another one of many, many of her strengths is her ability to answer questions from so many different angles. She’s never once failed on a question of mine and I had plenty and she would find answers for me. If I wouldn’t understand one way she would try to find another way. She was really committed to my learning and committed to making this knowledge really mine. I would take anything that Mary teaches at any point, I would take things more than once, there’s just truly no greater teacher you can ask for. Anyone who gets to study with her is genuinely lucky and I would always be grateful to her for every bit of time I’ve gotten with her as her student.”
“I first met Mary Thompson about 16 years ago. She was an instructor at the California College of Ayurveda and she taught the first year program, and I can pretty accurately speak for everyone in the class when I say that we all really looked forward to whenever she taught. She has the unique ability to take complex subjects like Ayurveda, and be able to explain in such simple terms that it is readily accessible to anyone, regardless of their background. And few people have that rare ability to have a grasp of a subject matter as technical as Ayurveda, and at the same time be able to explain it in such a way. I highly recommend her.”
“Mary Thompson is my Ayurvedic practitioner. Mary introduced me to Ayurveda almost 20 years ago and really opened my eyes to what natural medicine could be. Mary has a great ability to be able to share her perspective and the Ayurvedic practices and bring it down to what everyday people can really understand. Both my husband I have been working with Mary and we both believe in Ayurveda because of what Mary has taught us.”
“I’ve known Mary Thompson for several years, she was one of my primary instructors when I was a student at the California College of Ayurveda and I’ve continued to study with Mary beyond graduation, whenever she gives webinars or classes. I’ve even asked Mary to supervise me with a couple of my clients.
I know Mary to be someone who has a unique combination of innately being a very skilled and adept teacher, while also being a very knowledgeable, effective and studied practitioner. I think we’re very lucky to have Mary available as a resource for us in learning Ayurveda. Mary has a unique ability to take pieces of information that seem big and complex such as pathology, and break them up into small easy to understand, easy to digest but most importantly, easy to work with pieces of information. Please study with Mary whenever you have an opportunity.”
Statistics from the World Health Organization tell us that one in four adults in the world – that is a whopping 25% of the global adult population
– will
suffer from a mental health problem at least once in their lives. Around 450 million people currently suffer from such conditions, placing mental disorders among the leading causes of ill-health and disability worldwide. And these are just diagnosed or documented mental “disorders”; not counting the increased stress levels, insecurities and worries that are becoming second nature to most of us.
The question remains:
Despite the advances of Western psychology, why is the rate of mental disorders on the rise?
Just to take one example, the rates of ADHD diagnoses have increased by a mind-boggling 43% just in the last nine years in the United States! We are talking about an entire generation of kids being put on chemical stimulants to help them focus at school.
Clearly, we need a more holistic model for mental health,
one that uncovers and heals the CAUSE of these issues and not just SYMPTOMS.
“By learning about and applying the principles outlined in this program, you will be able to create more happiness in your day-to-day life and will gain greater clarity about what is really creating your unhappiness.”
