We all have witnessed intense hair problems at some point of our lives. But it really starts to glare in our faces post 50 – when aging shows up and slowly attempts to smother our vitality.
Thinning of hair, visible scalp, lifeless looking strands, dryness and skin irritation... are only a few troubles among many, caused by an aging body. And we don’t want you to feel like there is no way out!
Here's a quick list to counter these issues and save the day.
1. Pick Paraben, Sulfate Free products to rescue your hair from dullness
This tip seems to be gaining popularity of late (or so we hope!), but we still think it’s worth a mention if it’s going to help you. On your next grocery store visit, do read what your hair-care bottles have to say! If you spot any of those words, put them back.
Why are Parabens harmful, you ask? Well, they deposit on your scalp and mane due to which your hair ends up looking limp, gross and unhealthy. Especially when aging arrives, you cannot afford to let these chemicals do more harm than good.
And sulfates? They are cleansing agents... Also found in detergents used to beat the dirt out of clothes and everything rough, unlike your hair, that require care and nourishment.
2. The homemade hair mask with Avocado, Honey, Olive Oil, Coconut Milk
This one is for over-all cleansing as well as conditioning of your hair to retain health and hydrate the dry ends. Just making this hair mask is so much fun if you do it right.
Take half an avocado and scoop it into a blender, along with about a tablespoon of honey, extra virgin olive oil and creamy coconut milk to suit the consistency you prefer.
Blend the ingredients and feed your hair this yummy smoothie by applying it all over the head. Don’t leave the dry areas like split-ends (if there) unattended. Wait an hour and wash to see your hair happy again!
And if this tip doesn’t seem doable, try this.
3. Fenugreek-Flax Seeds gel, cooked in hot water for luster and shine
This is an equally healthy, VEGAN alternative that will give you a smooth shine and de-tangle your wild strands.
Take a cup of water in a boiling pot. Mix one tablespoon flaxseeds and fenugreek seeds in it. Place it on the stove and let it heat till you achieve a gel-like consistency (check it with a spoon).
Apply on dry hair strands as needed but also make sure to massage your scalp thoroughly. Wait for 30 minutes to an hour before rinsing.
Along with nourishment, the gel is known to caress and repair the roots of your hair to give it the strength it needs to fight aging effects and everyday bustle!
4. Diet plays a huge role, so be on a lookout for what your body consumes
Yes, we’ve only been talking about what you put on your head and hair. But addressing the issue of a bad diet also seems to be significant, especially with an aging process that won’t stop for anybody.
Eating your proteins, irons and vitamins is crucial to hair cell growth. Feed your scalp the right nutrients and you may notice many of these aging effects slow down.
Some common foods that you should load your refrigerator with are spinach, lime, red pepper, broccoli, kiwi, guava, strawberries. Fox nuts, almonds, walnuts are also great for your hair!
Speaking of what should go into your body, we’d also like to talk a bit about what your pores should eat and drink for stunning hair... Which brings us to our next tip.
5. Include massage-oils with natural herbs in your haircare process to age with beauty
Oils don't just moisturize and condition your dry hair, but also protect them from thinning, becoming brittle, damaged, dull and losing a healthy texture.
The best way to pick the right oils for you is looking for something that is completely natural, non-sticky and carries essential oils with effective herbs to optimize the results.
