Ayurvedic Remedies For Sagging Skin and to Age Gracefully

The Ayurveda Experience July 24, 2022

The youthfulness and health of the skin is determined by several elements, according to traditional Ayurvedic teachings. These include the proper management of metabolic processes that harmonize hormonal and chemical reactions like inflammation, heat build-up in the skin (a well-balanced Pitta), regulation of nutrients, and blood flow to the various skin layers (a well-balanced Vata), and moisture balance (a well-balanced Kapha).

The skin is a direct reflection of the state of the three Dhatus (classes of bodily tissues): nutritive flow, blood flow (Rasa), and muscle (Mamsa). Rasa feeds all the tissues in the body, keeping the skin smooth and healthy. While Mamsa provides structural support to the skin, keeping it firm, rakta works with liver function to help the skin remove toxins.

An efficient Ayurveda cure and therapy must assist and support all three Dhatus to avoid drooping skin. Ayurvedic remedies like Vyadhihara (healing and curative) and Urjaskara (promotive)(17) are among them.

    Vata skin(18)

As the skin is exceptionally prone to aging, premature aging, and wrinkles, Ayurvedic treatments and therapies that rehydrate and nourish the skin should be considered. In addition, warm oil massages and natural skin moisturizers are advised.

    Pitta skin care(18)

Potent sunscreens and cooling herbal oils, specially formulated for sensitive skin, are advised for sun protection and daily massage. Avoid skin-tanning treatments and procedures that repeatedly expose the sensitive skin to heat or steam.

    For Kapha skin type (19)

It is advised to exfoliate the skin with a mild herbal cleanser, massage it with herbal powder ubtans (scrubs), and warm oil daily.

In Ayurveda, you will find many herbs that may maintain elasticity, smooth fine lines, and wrinkles, naturally preventing saggy skin. Read on to uncover some of the best Ayurvedic herbs to say goodbye to saggy and droopy skin

    • The age-defying Vayasthapana

Vayasthapana(20) is the name for natural and herbal components that profoundly nourish the skin and support its physiological functions. It can mean either "everlasting youth" or "arresting age." These Ayurvedic plants enhance the health of your skin by balancing the three doshas. Centella Asiatica, sometimes called Gotu-kola, is a well-known Ayurvedic plant with anti-aging benefits. Gotu Kola(21) is rich in polyacetylenes and triterpenoid saponins. This prevents collagen breakdown while stimulating the production of fibroblasts(22) (collagen-producing cells) and restoring the skin's elasticity.

    • Varnya for a youthful glow

Varnya is a collection of Ayurvedic herbs(23) and nutrients that may improve the luminosity and bloom of the skin. According to Ayurveda, the skin isn't considered youthful if it lacks the varnya complexion, which is a healthy shine. Indian sarsaparilla, Indian madder, vetiver, and sandalwood are the botanicals in this category.

    • Sandhaniya for skin restoration(24)

This group of herbs reconnects damaged tissues and improves the skin's health and function, reversing the harmful effects of skin aging. Mimosa pudica, called the "sensitive plant," promotes skin tissue regeneration and healing(25)

    • Vranaropana for deep healing(26)

These Ayurvedic herbs improve the capacity of the skin to recover itself. Sensitive plants and Gotu kola are members of the Vranaropana class of herbs, which are recognized for their ability to repair connective tissue damage(27) and skin repair.

    • Tvachya for deep nourishment(28)

This group of Ayurvedic herbs nourishes the skin, helping maintain its moisture balance. The nourishing qualities of rose petals, costus, and silk-cotton trees are well recognized. In addition, they increase the healing potential of these herbs when used with natural vitamin supplements like grapefruit extract and vitamins E, C, and A(28)

Some Ayurvedic home remedies for sagging skin

    • Ghee, a powerful antioxidant

Take half a tablespoon of ghee and blend it with the same quantity of honey. Apply this remedy to your face and neck, massage for some time, and leave it on. After 20 minutes, rinse the face with lukewarm water. Both these ingredients - ghee and honey - are antioxidants and fight the signs of aging in the best possible way.

    • Natural oils for skin tightening

Ayurvedic experts recommend intensive oil therapies using natural oils to replenish the body. For example, use sweet almond oil, sesame oil(30), jojoba oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, etc. These are some of the best oils to keep your skin toned and nourished.

Take the oil of your choice to a bowl and heat it until it gets warm. Next, take a small amount of the oil, put it on the face, and massage in circular motions for about 10 minutes. Now, dip a clean cotton cloth in water and gently wipe the face and neck. Viola! You have started the journey to youthful skin. Try iYURA Balaayah Black Gram Body Booster.

As far as skin sagginess and elasticity are concerned, aloe vera gel(34) rules the roost. Loaded with the power of malic acid, it improves the stretchability and firmness of the skin(35). Take aloe vera gel and apply it to the face and neck. Let it dry for 20 to 25 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water. Learn more about aloe vera and its benefits.
